Ducks and chickens together?

This is a picture of Zira and Notaduck the chicken when they were babies. She never left his side, and always slept on top of him until she started roosting where the ducks couldn't reach. Even then, she'd roost above him and they'd nap and forage together outside. Now, she keeps going by him and he just keeps chasing her and trying to mate her and hurting her in the process.
It just breaks my heart. I wish I didn't have to separate them. :hit

The duck housing needs are different enough from the chickens that I think separating them might be the way to go. It might have been wishful thinking on my part that they would automatically live in flawless harmony if they were raised together lol.
Yes, and Yes.

Its' waht boys do......treasure the memories and deal with the reality.

Yes you can keep them together. Just keep in mind that ducks are lot messier and so you will need to design your run with good drainage, and an area so chickens can stay dry if they want to. Always need to watch to make sure they don't fight.
