Do ducks and chickens go together or do they need to be kept seperate. I have a flock of chickens 1 yr old and we just got some Pekin ducklings in march. Thanks!

I had Pekings with my chickens before with no problems other than the general mess. Also, its hard to give the ducks a water source to swim in that the chickens can not drown in. But, they got along fine. They were raised together, but like with any addition just watch for over the top aggression. I also had a Roo that was bound and determined to create a turdunkin, minus the turkey in his own fashion

The ducks did protest.

I have Mallards now and expecting my chicks soon. I will be keeping the chicks away from the ducks because of their age and size difference, but once the chicks are feathered, they will be introduced by SIGHT only for a while. When they get used to the sight of each other, I will (under strict supervision) allow them to "mix".

I know the ducks will be territorial. So if the chickens respect their space, I think they will co-exist just fine.

BUT...If I see any hanky panky......they will be separated for good.
