Hi
New to all of this but so far so good my daughter bought me 2 ducklings can they be houses with the chickens????

Hi,
welcome-byc.gif

Yes, they can be, but ducks are much messier than chickens and they will foul every water container right after you clean it! My poor chickens were so pitiful! I'm in the process of separating them right now, should make the chickens happier to have cleaner water and less mud.

I am new to ducks too, they are so cute and fun to watch, they are very messy and grow very fast. I have them seperate from the chicks now but am contemplating housing them seperatly in the same run still. I am thiking of enclosing under the current chicks coop for them. Easy clean up ad they wo't mess the girls area.

Thanks
will chicken drink from drip bottles? so they can get clean water?

mine didn't but I am going to try again. some people say to only offer that choice and they will use it. I just couldn't brig myself to only offer that. also they would find other place in the yard to drink from so they never got the opportunity.

Ours are hanging nicely with each other, we had to separate them temporarily because the chicks were after the ducklings feet. But I took out the divider and now they are a happy pile of cute!

My ducks and chickens have been living together for a year now, and they are one big happy flock. But the water does get yucky from the ducks, I put out a 1 gallon poultry waterer full and a big round tub of water. That way the ducks go for the tub instead of the waterer and the chickens get clean water.

I was wondering the same thing so thanks for this thread. I do have a question though. We have 2 female mallards that are 5-6 weeks old now. They are almost fully feathered, but I was wondering when I can add them to my coop. All of our chickens are large breeds so I really do not know when they are big enough to fend for themselves in there.
