Can I put ducklings into my "brooding box" (?) with my one chick to keep it company while other chicks are hatching?

Duckling and chicks can do fine together. Just watch to make sure no one pick on the other very much. It is normal for the chicks to peck the webbed feet and a duckling to peck the chicks a little. Ducklings are very messy!!!! You will have to keep an eye on them and the water. Jenn

If I remember right I don't think that ducklings can have medicated food.

correct...the antibiotic in the feed can poison ducklings because of the amount of it they eat
