Help. I'm getting back into the chicken game after some years off. At first I wanted just ducks, have two drakes and a hen mallard. My nine year old decides he then wants to get chickens also. I read having them together was ok and made a giant 400 square foot run and coop and duck house. My mallards are about 10-12 months and my chicks (14 Cornish rock and Wyandotte) are about 6 weeks. My mallard has laid 9 eggs thus far. I tried putting two of the bigger chicks in the ru. With the ducks to see what they would do. They got attacked by the drakes. I got them out asap. Will the mallards calm down once she begins to sit on her clutch? After they hatch? Once the chicks get about the same size? Ever? I wasn't going to integrate for a while but just wanted to be ready when the time came.

It will be up to the drakes.

And you may be aware of this, but two drakes with one duck is likely to turn out badly for her sooner or later. Pretty much, three females per drake is the minimum healthy ratio. Granted, there can be exceptions to every rule, but I would be concerned about your duck's well being.
