Hi all.. I'm new to this site and also quite new to raising ducks.. I got some duckling at a week old about 7 weeks ago. They are now 8 weeks old. I got 13 in total. If iv sexed them correctly I have 8 ducks and 5 drakes. My question is will it be ok to keep 3 drakes to 8 ducks? Iv become quite attached to all my ducks and really struggling on the fact I will have to rehome any of the drakes. The reason I ask about having 3 drakes is because the 3 drakes I want to keep are my favourite out of them all I couldn't bare to rehome them. There are 2 drakes I don' mind rehoming but ill still be sad to see them go. They are Indian runners. I have built them a new bigger enclosure and it is very spacious they will be moving into it next weekend.

I have a separate pen that I keep 3 males in (the bachelor's pad) that were born together and raised together so there is little to no fighting between them. I keep them so I can chang out roosters with hens for the different breeds I want. Maybe keep your 2 males in a separate pen until you can get some more females for them if you have a hard time re-homing them or culling them.

Thankyou all for ur reply. I have decided I'm goin to keep 3 drakes and see how things go maybe add another 3 ducks at a later date if needed if that don' make things run smoohly then I'll have to rehome a other drake or 2 and just have the 1. I don' want 2 seperate enclosures iv already thought about it but really want the enclosure there in now for my giant rabbit once they have been moved to the new bigger enclosure. It' so hard having to choose haha but it has to be done x
