Ducks and fire ant killer

I have a company coming to put down fire ant granules. Will the granules harm my mallards

I would keep the ducks away from where the granules are being spread, or simply use a safer alternative. Most fire ant killers contain ingredients that are harmful to animals if ingested in large amounts. Birds may assume the granules are seeds and may attempt to ingest them.
