could you incubate duck eggs and goose eggs together and raise them together. What are the differences? Are geese aggressive or loud and would they keep foxes away? Would they get along as adults as they would shared the same dam?
Thanks

The issue I see when you brood different species together.... is that they then get confused as to which species they are.....

This is not a problem if a drake tries to mate a goose.... but if your gander tries to mate a duck...it could easily kill the duck.

For this reason I brood each species by itself.

My ducks and chickens do well together...they ignore each other.

I have only once had geese, and I bought them about half grown...they HATED my other livestock (chickens and ducks) so I kept them separate. I have heard that other people haven't had any issues though.

As a kid my grandparents had a trio of geese with their chickens, and that worked fine.

Geese are smart, and learn well.

I don't have foxes here... I have bear, all flying raptors it seems, weasels.... and dogs.

When I had a flock of 6 geese they were free ranged, only locked up at night, and i had zero losses. (Which is a miracle) However, i do NOT think they could keep fox away.... fox are smart, and fast.

Geese are loud, and excellent watch dogs. If you treat them nicely they are not at all aggressive. However, once they are scared they can be mean and chase humans etc. I also think potentially aggressive geese are more likely with some breeds over others.

I used to have other kinds of ducks...but now the only ducks I have are muscovy. I really like my muscovy, they are very different from geese.
