ducks and hawks

along with new chickens thinking of getting 2 muscarvys(sp?) or a very large goose. so my question is, he have a hawk problem, well i am sure every one has one but we have more hawks than chickens. so my question is, are they literally sitting ducks. i have a 2 foot wide by 6 foot long pen i was gonna board up and let it be their home and once they are hear long enough to call it home i was just gonna let them permatly free range.and go back to pen at night. but as above will it be bad, some asians done the road have an army of them, never talked to them but the quack as i go by, will the quack scare the hawk, i have always wanted duck, but i dont wanna put alot of money into a tasty snack.

Hawks like duck and chickens. I've lost a few to hawks and eagles. A goose is good for aerial protection. I know the risks of free ranging but let mine do it anyway.

so the risk is no differnat, i figure hawks could snatch them quicker. i have been looking at some adult gees, forgot to ask the breeder but they are like 4 foot high. really big, i have been reading up on that type but the little thing is what bugs, not to sound cold but i didn't wanna build a extra coop for them, just want to use the left over and add onto to t.. thank you

I think what she is meaning to say is....what bugs me is I dont want to build a seperate coop for it.....maybe thats what she is saying????



So having a Geese keeps hawks away???? Im learning here, have had chickens for 2yrs and once in awhile I let them out to free range, and now I just got ducklings and Ive only been a duck mama 2wks...what about the famous, and I cant even say the word I hate them!!!! and fear them B.A.D....what about the "S" word? Do they eat ducks?....I know Ive had missing eggs lately and Ive only seen one "S" word ONE TIME, and I bout died!!!!! I dreamed it those few days....that is my biggest fear.....
