My ducks are new to their duck coop, and newish to being outside on rainy days, now as ducks I know they are programmed for being wet, and they can hang out outside in the drizzle all day if they want, but i worry because I really think they are too dumb to go up the ramp and go in out of the rain. I am going to make the ramp wider because it has occurred to me I have heard of Bee lines, but never a duck line and it’s a real circus getting them in as if 1 makes it in, 3 fall off the side.its not a big fall but it seems to send them into a tizzy. The duck door is 17” square so it isn't like there is no room. They just can’t seem to get used to the ramp. That is 18” wide.
I’ve tried luring them up with peas I’ve trued going to the other side and calling them in, they just run around. It’s like herding cats.
Any suggestions on getting them to recognize their house as home and shelter so they go there for safety and warmth?

I’d make the ramp wider and practice herding them inside. My ducks prefer to lay around outside when it’s rainy and snowing and have done it for years [muscovy] then in 2016 they hatched Runners and Buffs and I was surprised that first winter they would go inside to get out of the weather. And taught my Muscovy to do it too. But they still like to hang out on rainy days Muscovy look like lawn ornaments the Runner an Buffs are having a blast playing in it.

My Mallards (I say 'my' but they're wild 😂) like to look for worms and food in the rain. For the ramp though I would just be sure it's plenty wide, has friction, and isn't to steep. Whenever it's time for them to go up there like at night, just heard them up it with treats.

Oh they can hang out in the rain all day if they want. Just so long as they know where home is. When it gets moved I am going to make a low “pavilion” for them, for sun and areal protection for now they are pretty well sheltered under the trees near the caboose.

That sounds cool! You'll have to send some pictures
