Ducks and Tilapia

So imagine you have a 30ft by 15ft by 4ft deep swimming pool that you plan to raise catfish and tilapia in.

Well, thats MY plan anyway lol.

Could I add a half dozen ducks to the pond? Having read that Tilapia eat poo, as well as fish food, ducks would seem to be an ideal companion for them.

Any ideas?

Yes, and your ducks could eat the tilapia and maybe you could get it all into balance. Except your water would probably be full of duck poop and mud.

In theory it would work. Duck poo is a LOT thicker and more abundant than fish poo, though. You would probably need to have a really, extremely good filter. You may want to start with just 2 or 3 ducks and see how it works out. If the water quality doesn't get way out of whack you could add more. Just make sure you don't poison your fish with all the duck poo in the water.

You could probably balance out the system using the fish and your 2 ducks. The water could be filtered through a vegetable grow bed- aquaponics. This might just work very well.
