Ducks as pet

I would like to have a duck as a affectionate pet. One that does not fly. What would you recommend?

As an only duck? With no flock of it's own? No other poultry? Only you to bond with? If so, that's not ideal for any duck. I don't mean to come across in a rude way at all.

You can clip the wings of most ducks to render it flightless.

I think its the exception, not the norm, for a duck to behave like a pet dog. I know a few people here have ducks like that, but I don't think I'd expect it. Two of my ducks are super friendly towards people, but I still would not classify them as an affectionate pet like my labradors. That being said, most domestic mallard derived breeds cannot fly more than a few feet. (Mallards being an exception). Good luck and post pics if you get ducks.
