Ducks at work

[TLWR]

The dogs do nothing to earn their keep. The ducks give us eggs and now I've given them a new task. Veggie garden fertilizing!

We had this 12x12 bed next to the deck full of grass/pickers/weeds. I pulled a bunch and tilled and cleaned it up again only to find it was a large sand box. So we took several loads of sand out and dug in the back yard to get some dirt and put that in on top of the pile of used duck bedding from the compost pile (of used duck bedding). A few bags of cow manure and till it again and it's ready to plant. I walk down with some tomato plants and the girls run after me. I put the tomato plants up and quickly remembered I needed to fence the garden to keep them out of it. Dropped the plants in yesterday, revised the planting plan and went out this morning and started planting. And got a few buckets of duck pool water to water the plants in. Then I brought their small pool over next to the garden and filled it up and told them to hop in and feel free to start pooping

And here was I thinking I was going to see photos of a diapered duck wandering around an office with a male cart harnessed on..... or a duckie with a little mini plough dragging along behind him.

They can be very useful around the garden. Well..there poop can be anyway. The straw from my night pens is a great mulch for around plants and trees.

OO OO got to tell you. You know how kids are green cheese and always have to have what the Jonses have. Well...Im going to pick up a blue, not so blue Runner on Friday from Curiositycat. along with a lavender and a F&W Runner. Im all excited and hoping I dont get lost on the way home and end up in Waco Texas or Timbuktwo.
