ducks back pecked badly need advice please **image**

If you keep your ducks and chickens together, it could have been the rooster. I doubt it was from another duck trying to get after her since they are all female but stranger things have happened. As far as chickens go, if they see even the tiniest bit of blood or a scab, they'll pick it and can kill the injured bird. The blu kote is a good suggestion as is the neosporin. I sure hope she feels better soon. My ducks like frozen veggies.

Well at least Kashi is more healthier than most. I agree with dianaross that the chickens most likely went after her, they will literally eat each other if they see a wound.
i hope you see improvement soon.

Update : she is eating a drinking, but still hobling around. The chickens are in an enclosed run/coop area until the afternoon (so my eggs don't wander off) but the ducks free range all day, but don't go far from their area. I have been watching and can't see any "agression" in the ducks, but I watched yesterday that the 3 week old turkeys (2) and guineas (2) are kinda mean to the ducks, chasing them around. Wonder if they pecked it and then the other ducks just made it worse. Hopefully she will continue to get better.

Could be it was the turkeys or the guineas. It definitely looks like the work of something with a beak rather than a bill. Although it could've been a predator or maybe she got caught on something and injured herself worse trying to get loose. Glad she's feeling a little better.

I'm glad to hear she is doing better. It will take time but they are amazing healers so she will be fine soon. just don't let anything with a beak near her till she heals up. if you can get the blue-kote and spray that on her wound it would help to disquise the wound and she could probably let out with the ducks with supervision.

She died yesterday afternoon. I gave her another warm bath she was no longer walking or eating treats and was trying to clean the puncture wounds out (I saw tiney magots). Left to pick up my son from school, when we came home she had died. We buried her in front yard, the kids put flowers on top. Of course the duck that was named was the one that died. At least the other ducks are okay, but still unsure how it was injured.

On a happy note our chickens just started laying and we have had 3 eggs in the past 2 days
