Hey yall!
I’ve got two duckies and have been wanting to add a chicken into the mix but I’m not sure how that would go.
I would plan on keeping them in the same pen but how old should the chicken be before it is with the ducks?

I’ve also got a silly but curious question…
Has anyone tried to see if a duck would raise a chick as its own?

I wouldn’t recommend keeping a single of any bird. A chicken with ducks is not the same as a chicken with chickens.

A duck could raise chicks, if the duck hatched the chicks herself. Ducks will not take in chicks unless they believe the chicks are theirs.
Edit: Also, you’d have to make sure the chicks don’t drown… They may follow their “mama” into the water and have a very bad time.

Otherwise, I’d recommend introducing chickens when they’re nearly full-grown.

x2 on what @BigBlueHen53 says.

Are your "duckies" male or female? A drake, or male duck, can do serious harm or even kill a hen, when it tries to breed her. And he will.
Sorry I know this thread is like 2 months old but my I have 4 chickens and 5 ducks housed together and the drake has never tempted any breeding with the chickens. Only the occasional 'lean head forward action' toward them when the get too close

Jut thought I'd say this as not all drakes are the same 🙂
