I agree that this is not from fear. The head dunking is "fun" for ducks, and if they get worked up enough, they can start doing that nutty darting behavior.

They will fly off he most likely won't be able to follow. See if you can borrow a large fishing net then get down there and feed him and net him. He most likely won't make it through winter. I hate to be pessimistic but domestic ducks aren't real good at living on their own especially by them selves. Do you think someone dumped him off?We thought about it, but I was never able to grab him. I had him eating out of my hand a few times, but he'd move if I moved. A couple wild ducks joined him at the creek a couple days ago, so I'm hoping he'll follow them to a better place.
