We were doing some corn husking near the play pen where our ducks and chickens range about. We noticed that the ducks would put their heads through the fence in order to get at the corn silk. Will corn silk harm them in any way? They seem to really like eating it.

Nope they gobble it down with no problems. They will usually enjoy the husks too, sometimes leaving the tough outer husk on a ear. You know how there is a bunch of corn left on the ear after a human has eaten the kernals. once a duck learns that, they will polish off that cob so it is round and smooth.

Personally if I were a duck I don't think I'ld eat the silk. It would be like having a long hair down your throat.

Too funny!

have to say mine love the silk also, they eat it fresh off the corn stalk! i never gave them any though, they figured it out all on thier own.

Mine love silk too. I throw everything leftover out in my compost pile and give them first dibs. I don't have much left for my garden :-( except maybe duck poo, which is good too.
