Ducks eggs?

Ok so I took my niece to the lake yesterday and we saw a clutch of about a dozen duck eggs but no mom sitting on them we went two days later and went to look for them again what we found shocked us ! They were all broken like smashed (this was at the county lake) we thought some of the kids might have done it so we were going to leave it as is when in the corner we saw 3 more eggs that were hidden so we decided to take them and put them under our broody hen was this dumb ?

no i dont think its dumb, the mother isnt going to come back to the nest. theres no doubt in my mind you did the right thing. but i wish you luck i hope the 3 remaining survivers are still alive or unharmed. good luck with your hen hatchign them out, keep us posted if you candle or get anything

I candled three and 2 of them were moving around and the other one looked just watery im guessing it went bad ?
