Ducks: Even or odd number?

Hi Group,

I'm planning to get my first ducks soon and am not sure if I should get 6 or 7. Do female ducks form pairs, if so I was thinking it wouldn't be good to get an odd number and have one without a friend, but maybe this isn't the case for ducks.

If raised together, they will bond together.

I have 3 sets of ducks. A pair, a trio and a pair. They were raised at separate times (year or two apart) and when put all together they do fine, but at times, the groups separate out to do their own thing.
