feeding a wild flock causes issues too so mabye just enjoy watching

Definitely domestic and wild are different. I'd stick to just the pond and wait to see what comes in to the pond.

Provide wood duck houses and hope that wild ducks will populate your pond. Mowing areas around the edges of the pond may prove attractive to water fowl.
