I have three 2 year old Pekin females that stopped laying in August. I expected them to start up again in around a month, but nothing. They free range during the day, have layer feed and access to oyster shells as they like. I have added a natural spectrum light in their shed at night so they're getting 16 hours a day, but zilch. They seem perfectly happy and healthy, and acting normally. Any suggestions?

2 years old. I have two smallish dogs as well, but they don't bother the ducks (they've known them since they were ducklings).

Have they had a molt

I don’t light birds here but the duck breeds I have had/have(including pekin) typically stopped by October and resumed about Feb/march

My last pekin female is old though she lays pretty good but definitely stopped when fall began

What's the climate where you live? As I understand it, ducks (wild ducks, anyway) generally breed from mid-march through maybe September).

They did molt in August, but laid all last winter. Well, if others have had a winter layoff, I guess I'm have to wait until Spring.

It's pretty temperate in Portland, Oregon and they did lay all last winter. I've put a natural light out in their shed on a timer, along with a heat lamp. Maybe that will help.

Honestly, if they're not laying now, they probably won't lay again until spring. Maybe you should think about the last time they laid and what changed between then and now. Even minor stuff (repaired coop, different feed, etc.)
