Anyone out there have problems with Ideal Poultry sending you something you ordered only to find out it was not what was sent? I ordered 20 Black East Indie ducklings this spring, only to find out after they got large enough they were Cayuga or a mix of something else. I have raised BEI ducks for 8 years and wanted a fresh batch for genetics and was I surprised when they didn't turn out to be BEI. Also, several of the ducks have something wrong with their legs twisting under them until they are crippled. So far, I am getting nowhere with Ideal Poultry on the problem. Is there anyone that can help me out?

Wow! I'm sorry to hear that what company did you order from?
I'm sorry I can't be of help I'm a newbie. I picked up two Cayuga ducklings from our local feed and I think maybe we got a Swedish and a Cayuga. But as a batch like that inm surprised. Hope you find some help/ advice.

I have not dealt with Ideal. This seems to me to be in the realm of legal recourse.

Some ideas - contact your state attorney general's office - they often have a consumer protection department; consider filing suit in small claims court; write the top executive of the company explaining the problem.

Leg issues are sometimes helped, in ducklings, with vitamin supplements, the description suo ds like it could be B vitamin deficiency. It could also be a problem with the breeding prigram. I think there are a number of businesses that obtain product from other businesses - so Ideal may be using a different hatchery for thie BEIs and their managers need to know what you are seeing.

If you have a friend who is really good at persuading others, you might ask them to use their magic on the Ideal representative.
