Ducks in heat?

I have three pairs of ornamental ducks. While I was changing their pond water today I did my daily inspection of the aviary and caught a couple to check on them. I do this since my chiloe widgeon and ring teal are from South America. After this was done I found a small amount of blood in the snow. There was only 1 tiny drop and a couple pin specks. I rechecked all the duck and found no blood. So, when ducks come into breeding season, do they have a period so to say?

. To the best of my knowledge ducks do not go into heat in the same way that mammals do.

I would double check them. ^ like Kevin said, they are not like mammals

I don't think they go in heat like mammals either but my Muscovy girls are throwing themselves all over the drakes here. not the least bit timid about it either.
