Second general inquiry question based on general observations.
I was wondering if ducks have a particular time of year when the males are sexually active / aggressive.
I have two (believed to be) Saxony males. Both matured and developed distinct black facial markings. They then went through a sexually aggressive stage and weren't exactly nice to my two female ducks, although oddly enough were fine with each other.
This lasted from about March to June maybe. After this it seemed to suddenly stop, and the mating ceased. Also one of my males has lost his facial colourings and has gone back to a yellow/white face like he had during his adolescent phase.
I was wondering is this a) normal and b) is it regular enough that their periods of mating can be worked out and roughly predicted by the time of the year?
If climate etc makes a difference I'm in the southwest UK.
