This group that posted it commonly cross-posts to and from Carolina Waterfowl Rescue. Just looked on a map and they aren't very close at all. But also saw a post this morning asking for help out here on the West Coast. Seems there is a park in Turlock California where people dump their unwanted Easter ducks. The Parks Dept is getting ready to round them up and take them to auction, which is normally a death sentence. So there are urgent pleas for help there, too.
So frustrating to see two stories about abandoned Easter ducks in less than 24 hours. Ducks are a lot of work. People should know that going in. i was surprised when i got them as i spend more time on their care and upkeep than all my other chickens, geese, goat, and cat care combined. But i wouldn't trade them for the world. They make me smile every day, even though my back patio is a poopy mess.
