In general my ducks are much better about laying early in the morning than my chickens. If I keep them locked in their house until about 8:00am generally all the eggs are right where I want them in their house.
Once your ducks are laying you will learn their routine (and they will learn yours). Since you lock them up at night, hopefully they will feel this is the best and safest place to lay when the time comes.
