Just a note to say I finally found a self-black call duck hen. She is in transit now and hopefully will arrive tomorrow morning.
Has anyone else ever shipped grown birds through the post office? Did it work out okay? I would have preferred to pick her up but that simply couldn't happen due to the distance involved.
Please share your experiences...I am still looking for another self-black call hen but they are VERY hard to locate. I've had ads here, on Eggbid, in Poultry Press and called every breeder in the NCBA yearbook who has either shown self-blacks or has noted them as one of their colors, and nothing. I got exactly one response, and it was from someone who knew someone who might have something. Hopefully the duck will meet expectations, the picture wasn't the greatest but then again neither is the time of the year. If I find one, we may have to ship again...don't like to buy them this sight-unseen but there was nothing to be done.
