Funny thing, my ducks have recently had the habit of going in their barn on their own and waiting for me to bring them food. It’s great that they are doing this, but I recall my early experience of really having to cajole the ducks out of the pond, or taking half hour or so to round them up. Guess ducks ducks love routine (and peas, kale and mealworms, lol).

My ducks (chickens and geese) have an innate sense of timing when it comes to meals. By the time my feet are on the deck steps, everyone has pretty well rounded themselves up -- especially the runner ducks -- and start heading toward the pens at dinner time.

Of course, it all kicks off when the sheep and goats, who are also guided by their stomachs, start yelling at me from the pastures. It is, I think, a conspiracy of critters.
