It’s work, time, & more time!! Especially recently!
The chickens are all separated. The injured one is now inside after an afternoon rush to the vet yesterday. Said the wound looked great & didn’t think that was the problem. Some subQ fluids really did the trick! But she is staying inside for a few days or more to be sure I can keep a close eye on her. And since putting the rooster back in with my other hen last night, she already had a small scratch under her wing this morning! So he’s on his own again for now. And I don’t like to leave the drakes out with the rooster unsupervised while he doesn’t have access to his hens bc he keeps acting like he’s going to take it out on them. My hens are both missing feathers under their wings, so even though the roosters spurs are filed I think his other nails must scratch them. I never see anyone pluck or pick so I haven’t figured it out yet. The chicken saddles I bought just didn’t seem right for my girls. So I’ve tried my hand at making my own, but we haven’t needed to use it yet.
And then I have my inside animals!! When it rains it pours. Two vet trips is one day might not be a record, but it’s also not a goal! I feel like I can’t keep up with any of it lately. Sorry that was a lot of word vomit. It’s been a long 10-12 days. Thanks for giving me a place to vent that!

It can be over whelming at times that is for sure. Glad to hear the vet wasn't too concerned and the wound is healing. Good idea to keep her inside where you can keep an eye on her.
