Ducks won’t mate!?!!

Very soon you will forget you ever worried that he wasn't mating!
Today he got to the pool and started to bob his head up and down but he seemed interested in one of our chicken hens. I could be wrong with that. Then he got in the pool with my female duck but they did nothing. One of my biggest questions is why does my female duck get all quacky and she bobs her head side to side when she’s around our main rooster?

Remain calm! It's going to happen and then you'll be running to Tractor Supply for Blu-kote for the girl's necks like I did last year. I literally thought my drake was gay! He'd stand by the pool watching the lesbian girls get it on with each other and do nothing! That one little drake tore up my 6 (SIX) girl's necks so bad he had to go to drake jail.

Just now he did his bob at the pool and tried to do it to my chicken hens but then my female duck got in the pool and he got on the rim and then got in and they mated. She just layed there which I guess is a good thing. I guess it was successful because he stopped doing it after he mounted. He did have trouble but I guess he’s rusty.

Yes, he'll be a spaz at first but once he gets going watch out! The girls do just lay down and flatten out when they want to be mated.

Your chicken hens are in real danger if your drake mates with them Roosters haven’t a penis like a drake and a drake can kill a hen if he penetrates her. I’d def separate any drakes from your hens.
He hasn’t hurt the hens yet but if he did i’m sure the roosters would attack him and I would separate him from the hen.
