Hi Guys Im house sitting and they have 3 baby ducks who are quite big now but live with there "chicken" mum she hatched them, they are free roam in the day and the chicken has gone missing tonight and the ducks are now trying to find her, one of the ducks have gone back to there hut but I have spent hours trying to get these other 2 ducks to bed, It is now pitch black and they refuse to go to bed and keep running under the Hedges, I have tried absolutley everything but they are frantically running around and this garden is very big! What do I do?? I need to go to bed and have left there hut slightly ajar But Im stressing out Thanks

Have you tried putting some treats into a bowl with a lid shaking it and calling them.
Yeah I've tried everything Food,Shaking Buckets,A stick as a Guide, was out there for hours and Just checked them now But still no sign, I've had to lock one of the ducks away so she doesnt get killed but the other 2 are still out Just hoping they are back by the morning

So sorry sure sounds like they are going to be sorry they didn’t come home. I hope they both will be back in the morning. Please let us know.

Sometimes what I use when I have ducks get out after dark is a flashlight or headlight with a strobe setting, wear dark clothes and shine it right in their eyes while you walk quietly and quickly straight at them. It disorients them and most times you can get right up to them and grab them. Good luck!

I would also keep them up in a pen during the day so this doesn't happen again. Since your housesitting, this is a lot of stress on you especially now that they won't come home. I would def try @MGG approach. Plus now that mama chicken as gone missing it could mean there is a predator around.

Thank you!! Luckily they came home this morning!! And I found then outside the locked hut, No sign of the mum chicken but This is my last day so definitely going to keep them locked in!
