okay so I have to drive 2 hours away and I have to bring my incubator. I have one egg who just internally pipped, would it harm the egg if I didn't incubate it for that time limit? I really don't want him/her to die!

I doubt that is going to work unless you have a power source in your car so you can keep the incubator running. You could try keeping the humidity up with wet sponges, but you'd still have a dramatic temperature drop unless you're going to be driving through a desert with the windows open. Even if you can power the incubator, all the jarring around isn't going to be good for the duckling.

yeah I put a big cloth down so they don't move around. I could keep the hot air running, would that help a bit?

Yeah, this is definitely not an ideal situation, I'm assuming you have no choice? No way to give the egg a couple more days to finish hatching before moving? At any rate, I think it will be ok if you pack some blankets around the sides of the incubator (leave an opening near the vents in the blankets so it can still get air, this is VERY important) and make a little towel donut for the egg to sit in inside the the incubator so it isn't flying around in there during the drive. Make sure there is ample water in there to keep the humidity up as well. The blankets should help keep in some of the heat. You also don't want the egg to OVER-heat, so be careful of that and try to keep it out of direct sunlight. Have the temperature in the car reasonable (not too much AC).

Scary situation, but good luck! It's better for this to happen now than at any other time during incubation, so at least you have that going for you. Just get it to a stable place with power as quickly and safely as possible, ok?

Good luck and please let us know how it goes! :)

I just got home after two hours and he seems fine! it looks like he actually made his way up to the shell during the ride. on the way I decided to pick up one of these to be extra safe.

Great to hear, thanks for the update! Can you post a pic once he's hatched? I would love to see him! ^-^
