Hay everyone!!!!

I have rasied ducks before. I was wondering about some things. I live in missiouri
The last time I raised ducks the coop was not preator proof very well but no preators seemed to messed with the ducks. We had them in our old garden area the fence was about 4 1/2 tall with chicken wire so it was not that sturdy. I was wondering if I do that again will the results turn out the same because just recently we did that with our chickens but preators seemed to eat them but never ate the ducks. Is it because chickens roost in some what hight places and ducks sleep on the ground by the rasie beds. I just want to know if preators will eat them. I really cant put a roof in that huge area. Here in missouri we have raccoons, oppusumes, coytoes, foxes, but we have raccons, and oppusmes in are area. We live kinda in the woods but not really. Sorry for my spelling i am horrible at spelling but anyone have any tips or info

I think that it really just depends if/when a predator finds your flock, and what kind of predator it is. Some predators operate in the daytime, some at night, some go for smaller birds, some go for birds as they roost, some may target ducks that cannot fly. It is up to you what level of risk you are willing to take and what type of coop and run you wish to build. I would say most people seem to agree that some sort of secure/predator proof space that birds can be locked overnight when the flock is most vulnerable is preferred, and the birds tend to have more freedom (at a greater risk) during the day.
