Hello! So I heard that duckweed is really good for ducks so I went to a local pond and scooped up a bunch of duckweed. After I brought a bucket of duckweed home, I realized it was also full of leeches🤢 also the pond I got it from was really dirty. I’ve heard ducks can eat leeches, but I’m kind of scared to let them. Should I dump the duckweed and leeches out or should I let the ducks go crazy? I really love my ducks and do not want any to die.

Any help would be appreciated! Thank you!

Put around a cup of hydrogen peroxide per gallon of water into the container holding the duckweed. Let it sit for 30 minutes or so then move it into a clean bucket of water to sit for another hour or more. That kills all of the bad stuff while being perfectly safe for the ducks. And given how expensive duckweed is online, getting it from a pond and just having to do a little work is for sure worth it.

Thank you! It’s in a little kitty pool right now though, but that work too?

Ok I’ve picked out a jar of duck weed, and put hydrogen peroxide in it hopefully this stuff reproduces quickly.
