Ducky Dilema

For a daily update: the 1st 3 birds to hatch in the incubator are now in a separate tub under a heat lamp. running around, eating, drinking, playing in food and water. While I was checking the temp earlier, they spotted the laser dot for the thermometer and started to chase it. Also, 2 more hatched today and are resting in the incubator. 5 saved out of the 9 abandoned eggs. 2 were definite duds. 2 more are still being watched. we saw movement, so...

swim in the puddles left by the rain. On the funny side, even at days old, they already know how to dive under and scoot across the water. Look like little water bugs chasing, well, water bugs. Yesterday, one of the brown babies was being pestered by two others. Then we saw why. It had a 3 inch long worm and they were trying to steal it. So was Latte (the cream and tan mama). But finder became keeper. YUMMY!!!

yep, they sat upon 22 eggs and hatched 13. we were about to dispose of the remaining 9 when heard peeps from inside! So we made an emergency incubator and managed to hatch 5 more, of which 4 survived. Re introduced them to the flock 2 days later. All happy little birds.
