Ducky Planking?

Aww, I agree with iamcuriositycat, I would take him home with you if possible. She'll be needing a mate in a month or less anyway. And, since he's already her friend, she would probably be more trusting toward him. You could at least try it, so if it didn't work out between them, he could just go back to the lake.

I'd find a way to catch him and take him home too. He's obviously not a wild duck. Maybe you could make friends with him by feeding him peas or cheerios.

i would like to take him in, but maybe i need to keep visiting so he can get used to me first. for now, he wont let me get too close to him. i bring some of her duck food for him each time i visit but he's too interested in her to notice lol. i'm not sure how old he is either and i was wondering if i should worry about any diseases wild ducks may carry?

lol one time he chased her all the way to the car! i feel bad, i really want to take him in because i always fear he wont be there the next time we go to visit

but i'll definitely try bribing him with treats! why didnt i think of that? lol

and im glad its so easy to take her to the lake! shes very loyal but she draws alot of attention, so i try to go when i know alot of people wont be there because they crowd around and stress her out

i just hope she doesnt run off with a boy and forget all about mama duck! lol

Another option--put your duck in a small cage inside a larger cage. Set her near the male and wait a short distance away. Maybe he'll come into the larger cage to get close to her, and you can just close him in and take him home.

Good luck! There are always diseases ducks can catch from each other but he looks pretty healthy and she's already been exposed now anyway. I wouldn't worry about it, as the benefit of taking him in is, to my mind, greater than the risk of disease.

OHHHHH take him home!!

im excited now! i will definately try to take him in! i have a fenced in yard so it wouldnt be too hard separating them if i need to, and she'll have company while im working. i just hope she doesnt detach from me if he moves in

i also have a lake near where i live in case he tries to wander off. its better than worrying if he'll wander around in the middle of the street lol

when you talked about his feet I just about cried, please take him home, someone has dumped him and he didn't deserve that. And those turtles doing that to him, it's heart breaking, Thats how i got 2 of my drakes because someone dumped them in the river close to our home. They are so sweet too. Please post how it is going, he probably has trust issues but I'm sure you can win him over with food and treats.
