Duct Tape Idea

So, it's that time of year again. Just like any chicken lover I am getting chicks next week. I am currently remodeling my chick coop and I have a situation. The wire I am using to keep my chicks in the coop has some sharp edges. I want to know if I can use duct tape to cover up these edges and keep them safe. Thank you for your responses!!

make sure its tight any little bit sticking out they will pick off

idk but I wouldn't want to eat it and it will just become a mess they will clean the wire off

It will deteriorate eventually and turn into powder and fiber strings eventually depending on exposure to elements such as sun/rain/heat.
