Duke's Mayonnaise

Just an FYI, if you can't find Dukes but have access to a brand called Blue Plate Mayonnaise, it's identical to Dukes. Got it in my fridge now alongside my trusty Dukes. Blue Plate is from New Orleans, so it's still southern, lol.

Blue Plate is made by Reily Foods Co out of New Orleans.
As to why you can't find it in Va...well my experience with Va, and we travel to Williamsburg every year, have lived in Newport News and Langley etc etc, once you cross the line from NC to Va, you feel like you have pretty much left the South. I mean honestly, can ya be a Southern state and not serve SWEET ice tea??? We can never find sweet tea in Va. Not saying that there isn't any in the state, I just haven't found any there. So glad I'm where the tea is still sweet and Duke mayo abounds!

the one thing i am excited about is that Duke's is the only brand of mayo not to have sugar added to it!

being hypoglycemic, it's great to find foods that work with this!

Hush your mouth! You've got to be kidding! It's the best mayo you'll ever have.

MP...it's usually about $2.12 a quart here in Florida. I'll check around and let you know if I find it cheaper.

My daughter is the same way. She isn't a big fan of Dukes or Blue Plate but LOVES Miracle Whip and Kraft. It's like anything else, different people have different taste preferences no matter what region they are in.

Duke’s regular mayonnaise is the only major mayonnaise on the market that contains no sugar. This is especially important for those with diabetes.

Mayonnaise, as defined by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s Standard of Identity, must contain at least 65% oil by weight, vinegar, and egg or egg yolks. It may contain spices and natural seasonings except turmeric and saffron, as yellow color might suggest added egg yolk. No emulsifying agents other than eggs are allowed, so real mayonnaise does not contain any starches or gums.

That is why many of the brands on the store shelf have to be labled as dressing and sandwhich spreads - which many people think of as mayonnaise. Few are real mayonnaise.
