dukes traps

The DP traps are awesome. I don't recall ever having the bait stolen but I can see how a mouse could get away with it, but not a crow.

Its been my experience when dealing with coons that however many birds die in a single night is how many coons you have to deal with. However, if you kill everything that kills your chickens, another critter will claim its new territory and the process starts all over. It sounds like you have quite the population of them and the dominant birds are/were in control but now the B team has full range of the area. There may be a C and D team ready when their time comes around.

Bottom line...if you don't secure your birds its only a matter of time.
yes, i know, but will keep the traps out, as for securing the birds, thought we had them secure when they were wiped out, but the coons chewed a small hole in the wall, and squeezed through, its been repaired and so far, so good.

Definitely keep the traps out and good luck with the quest... I think they watch us from the trees off in the distance and know if we slip up by not shutting a gate or something..stay alert :)

thanks, i'm thinning my flock down by selling a few, will only have three different breeds so will be easier to take care of locking them down and of course, will have the traps set at all times. in fact, was shopping yesterday at the dollar store and found chocolate marshmellows that really had a Delicious smell that you could smell several feet away, if i could smell them that far i know a coon could smell them from farther away.

thanks everyone for the help
