If you can get just one chicken to use it, she’ll show the rest. Ours do great with nipples on the side style waterers. Our older hens were about 6-7 months old when I first put it out there and it took a few days of tapping it when I was out there, before I saw them use it on their own. I left the old waterer out there until then, so I knew they wouldn’t dehydrate. Our new pullets didn’t catch on no matter how much I tapped until they moved in with the big girls and learned from them. I put a few buckets of water in the run too, just as an insurance policy the first few days!
One thing I’ve yet to convince any poultry to use are those cup waterers. None of them get it.
