I just hatched a little healthy chick. She's pooped already, and she's almost two days old. I think she's eating, but I haven't seen her drink even once yet. I've dipped her beak in the water, and she can watch the older chicks drink. She acts fine, so is she just a little dimmer? Her sister was born the same day, and started eating and drinking immediately and just acts more inquisitive. So how do I get her to drink?

Geesh, I have no clue, every Chick I have had would finally drink if you dipped her beak in water, Maybe she is sneaky and goes over and sips when You are not watching? At any rate are you putting probiotic and enzyme in the water?

I'm not, but they have a medicated chick feed. It's always kept them healthy from my experience. I've definitely had some chickens that were smarter than others, but this one is just really dull. She acts perfectly fine other that that. She tries to eat, but ends up flicking the food away and has to chase after crumbs for some reason. She might be drinking, but I've been watching her all day and still haven't seen it.

Don’t be surprised if this chick is drinking. I wouldn’t worry about it. It will find its way and if doesn’t there must a reason. The best you can do is show him a few times a day. Usually if there are a few drinking they’ll all find their way.
