Those windows are bizarre. I hope the company replies to my email about how they envisioned the window should stay open! I suspect we'll end up using sticks as well.
In hindsight, my husband commented that if he had it to do over again, he would have made it shorter. But I figure we can put down a little floor above at least part of it and I can store the brood box and maybe a couple of other things like that up there - and then close in access to it with chicken wire so the chickens can't get up there. This is the very first building we've ever built - so I'm just happy to have one that is structurally sound and will safely hold the chickens! This week we'll add the chicken door and gang plank, roost, and nests. Then we'll get a little yard fenced in for them in the coming couple of weeks and fence off access to underneath the coop. We should be ready for the chics when they get here May 19!
