Do you count day one on the day laid or the following day? For example, I have an egg laid 8/29, would I count the 29th as day one or would day one be on 8/30? I have my first ones in the incubator but I am unsure when to start counting LOL

If you are using an incubator count day 1 on the first day if the eggs were put in before noon, count day one as the next day if they were put in after noon. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Once they are set in the incubator they count as day one if you set them before 12pm. If you set them after 12pm you count the next day as day one. Thats the way I was taught.
Many people just count the second day you set them as day one to make it easier.
If you are going to incubate eggs from your own hens you can gather the eggs for a week and then set them all together so they will all hatch at the same time.

I am trying to finish what one of my broody's started but didn't finish. She left the nest today. These are about a week later than the 2 that just hatched. Her sister snuck in the nest and laid them with hers and I have 3 left I was hoping to try to finish. I am sorry I didn't clarify that in my first post. So, I was trying to figure out days to try know when day 19 would be approximately to increase the humidity a bit. The other 2 are 8/30 & 8/31.

Does this work for a broody, as well? I got eggs to put under my broody before noon on 9/5, and put them under her after marking them, which would have been around 1 or 2 in the afternoon. Does the 6th count as the first day? Last night we candled three of the four, and saw veining in two of them, but the other egg was darker, and I'm not really sure if I saw veining in that egg or not. The fourth egg was so hidden under her, that we just chose not to dig it out and upset her further. She really is a sweet broody. She never tries to peck or bite, just screams a little and growls at us.

I would assume it would be the same for a broody also. My broody just hatched out 2 on Friday and I know the one egg was laid about 7 pm and the other was there before seven in the morning and both hatched the same day.
Mine is a sweet broody too. She has never made a fuss when I had messed with her at all and I was a new person to her. She went broody as soon as she saw that first egg the same evening I got her.
