How often do you give fresh water to your flock? I share a coop/run with my step father on his property. He just doesn't think they need water but once or twice a week as long as the water pale has water in it he think it's fine. He says they would drink dirty rain water if they were running free and they step in poop all day so it doesn't matter because they aren't like humans.

I tend to disagree but what do I know.

When I get the chance I change the water about every other day. They don't drink a lot and the water never runs out I just hate to think they are drinking stale water though.

The chicks in the grow out pen get clean water at least 3x a day, but they go through that much. First thing in the morning, lunch time and evening. My bigger birds that free range have bowls around the yard that they share with the cats (and I'm sure a wild animal or 2) and I usually change them every morning or a couple of times a day if its hot out.

Clean water will help keep your animals healthy. I refresh & clean my birds water everyday. I live where its super hot & add ice to their water when temps are 100 degrees. I also add Braggs ACV. I never let them run out of water are food. Usually in the summer I will water my animals twice a day. When cooler weather arrives only once a day.
