i took a vacation day today since is it Eden's birthday and thought that I would let out the birds from their coops/buildings to free range the yard. Stupid birds!

I go in the house and hear an horrible noise. The dumb roosters are fighting. I give up. They have ripped out their neck feathers, bloodied their combs/necks/eyes and they are all back in thier coops. no fun time today

If you allow males from two or more different flocks to mingle they are going to fight until they establish a pecking order. That's just the nature of chickens.

I agree. It's their instinct to be the top rooster in their flock, and if there's another rooster they will feel that their rank among his hens as the top rooster is threatened. So they fight, and whoever wins is the top rooster. The one who loses is put in his place, below the top rooster, or completely banned from the flock. It's the natural process of the pecking order between most roosters, and if you put them together you're sure to regret it later. Maybe keep one rooster with his own flock free ranging at one time, and the other rooster with a group of his own hens in the coop? Then you could switch off and each time one rooster would be inside a coop while the other would be outside. Of course, this would only work if you have more than one coop and can split the group of hens up between the roosters. That's what we did anyway with our 3 roosters (2 fight with each other, but the 3rd one gets along with them all so he shares a flock with one of the roosters just fine).

Good luck!
