Dumbest Things People Have Said😂😱

This happened to me two weeks ago. I heard a strange noise from my chickens early in the morning. I went outside to see what caused the disturbance and a fox got into the coop. One chicken down. I opened the coop/ the run on two sides to give the chickens a chance to flee. But they didn’t. I saved a chick that was in the run and and managed to chase the fox out. The fox was afraid of me and panicked. The stupid animal left with his tail between his legs. When (s)he got out (s)he ran away full speed.

How the fox got in: We have strong netting for birds of pray on the roof and upper part of the run . The fox probably got on the roof of the coop and has been chewing on the netting and on a 5 mm thick tension chord for quit some time. (S)He managed to make an opening around sunrise and jumped in when the automatic door opened and the first chicken entered the run. (S)He couldnt get out the way (s)he came in.
I have lost over 100 birds (six were ducks) to foxes this year and more last year.

We have killed one fox so far, but we also have around five families of them in our area.

But still, we (Christians) have a weapon that is stronger than anything in the world - Prayer.
While I agree with you, it is important to note that prayer is not a magic spell.

You have to also act.

What I mean by that is,

if you lose your job, you should pray to find a new one an that you and your family will be provided for in the meantime. And then you go and start looking for jobs.

There are evil people out there. "Why should's" don't happen in there mind.

I'm in the USA , I've never been to the UK so I don't know what it's like over there. Over here we do not have a good police force. We are also a very divided country. It's better for us to have guns.

But there is no reason for the US to ban guns.
Precisely.
You can teach people how to be responsible, but they won't always take it to heart. That's what happens with car accidents, yet we aren't banning cars. That's what happens with any weapon, really.
The problem is the person, not the weapon. Deal with the dangerous people properly and let normal people (the vast majority of people) keep their firearms. I don't know about anyone else, but I'm not going to go toe-to-toe with a bear if it's trying to get into my chicken coop. I'm putting lead in its face, like my father did to one several years ago in order to protect our livestock.

With a gun you won't need to worry about that fox ever coming back. :)
If I take one fox down, there’s a vacancy for a another young fox.
Foxes are great in controlling rat populations and such. I don’t hate them.

Of course I hated it that the fox entered the run. I new the run was not safe for predators that come in the night (that’s why I made the auto pop door between te coop and run). Normally the foxes leave town if the sun is coming up.

If foxes are hungry they come into town during the day too. It was my mistake to think the construction with the netting was strong enough to keep foxes out (it did for 6 years).

P.s. We don’t have raccoons where I live. And the netting for birds 🦅 of prey does what it’s made for. I probably had one 🦅 casualty when they where free ranging (in 7 years). One Dutch went missing and I saw a buzzard cycling over our premises a few days later.

How awful. :hugs

You really need a Fort Knox to keep you’re birds safe.

The people doing these things are criminals, they don't care if guns are outlawed. They will find a way to get one anyway

But if guns are banned, people who follow laws have no chance if someone draws a gun. There are other weapons you could carry on you, but if you pull out knife when someone has a gun pointed at your or another person's head, you might get a laugh out of them.

But if you pull a gun on them, you have a better chance. Point it at there head, a lot of "idiots" would probably back down then. If they don't shoot the hand holding the gun.

And for the leaving a gun laying around, that is quite uncommon, most people have a locked safe or closet.
Having no guns allowed in Europe makes it feel so safe. It's extremely rare for someone to be shot over here and if they are it's looked into and dealt with in a way which would make other people think twice about doing the same thing. It's pretty good actually.

Look at it this way,

there's a fox attacking your animals, but you don't have a gun. What are you going to do? Call the gov.? If that's your plan have fun watching your animals die. Their blood is on your hands.
😄 I don't think the government is going to allow guns to be purchased legally for predator protection.

A secure coop and good electric fencing and durable fisher netting across the run is all that is needed to protect your birds from predators.

I still couldn’t live with myself if I killed someone.
If they went after my chickens, maybe. But still.
You could. Marines do it. would you and your family rather die? and what if you only just scared him off? maybe you could get the cops to take him. What if you shot his leg or something and then called an ambulance? there are tons of ways that you could keep him from killing anybody while still not killing him. Put a round in the ceiling. that will have them running scared.
