Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

I think I could slap that guy! Okay I am gunna rant here a bit now sorry:

I have no problem with eating rabbits. We've even been discussing getting a few and trying them. Even though I have a terrible memory from childhood involving my Dad taking my brothers hunting them, I could hear the terrified rabbits screaming before dieing from half a mile away. Okay I was an extremely sensitive child that felt a great connection to all animals. I still feel that connection but I am able to understand the idea of them having a purpose as food. That being said that doesn't mean that any animal destined for the table should ever suffer or feel unnecessary pain, stress, or fear.

Those animals not destined for the table should not be getting killed as a waste. It's one thing in my mind to shoot a big buck and keep the trophy and have it mounted as a bonus with the meat and another thing to only shoot it for that trophy and waste the meat. It also bugs the heck out of me when some hunters tell stories about the deer they gut shot that suffered and this and that. Quite frankly the big macho hunter that sits telling those kinds of stories is an idiot and shouldn't be hunting. I understand things happen and from time to time you have to track the deer and responsible hunters do, but I've also known hunters that just blow it off and shoot another.

Okay sorry climbing of my soap box. People like that just need a good slap if you ask me. I knew this guy once, he was a friend of a friend, and I didn't care for him but anyway he loved to talk. He could tell you story after story time after time about how he would see turtles(snapping turtles and what not) on the road and he would hit them intentionally. He would drive his truck up onto their backs and then he would leave the truck sitting there until he heard their shell shatter and them get squished then he'd drive away laughing. Okay first I just wonder about the guys mental state I mean anyone else getting red psychopath flags here? Anyway he never ate them or anything just tortured them and drove off. We one time when he was driving in front of us he did it and when we pulled in the driveway I admit that I was so mad I kicked him in the groin. He cried. I never saw the guy again.

Sorry if this story offends anyone I just can't stand blatant cruelty to animals and it's the fastest way to make my blood boil.

I agree!!! No offense here....every word the truth.

I'm always hoping those people who deliberately drive over turtles will get a punctured tire for their efforts. Such a harmless animal there never was, especially if a box turtle. Snapping turtles, on the other hand, I'm not a big fan of....they can do a lot of destruction and cost a lot of money in a stocked farm pond. But, I'd still not run over one.

I intentionally try to miss hitting roadkill...
The occasional bird flying into the car happens. But going out of your way to intentionally do harm to another living creature, and enjoying it? Disgusting. Sick. Not right in the head.
I enjoy the results of a day of processing animals for food (good, healthy food), but I never enjoy the act of taking life.

The guy does hunt elk and deer for food, not trophy. I have no idea why he is so repulsed by the idea of eating rabbit.

I'd like to blow off a little steam here if I may. I have 3 ducks a silver appleyard, khaki Campbell and a crested white duck. My family has a vacation property on a lake. Prior to going on vacation I looked up risks ect of having them swim in the lake. I even called the wildlife dept to make sure it was ok to bring them with me. The wild life person said he saw no issues and it was the strangest call he had ever received. So I arrived, allowed the ducks to have a quick swim, penned them up and went to the store. While at the store I received a call from a family member saying a neighbor had complained that the ducks were on the beach and aprox 20 years ago someone had contracted "duck pox", and they didn't want ducks in the lake. I tried to explain that it was highly unlikely that my domestic ducks were carrying any of the parasites that cause the rash... This is assuming that by duck pox they meant swimmers itch... Cuz I know they didn't get fowl pox. But I was shut down. I wasn't allowed to explain that we are only staying a week and the water quality should not be impacted in that time if the ducks are only in the water for a short time everyday and then penned in the yard. I got yelled at like I was a unable to understand and told that if I wouldn't keep the ducks in the yard, I wouldn't be allowed to use the property. I was upset that rather that have an adult conversation about their concern, in which I could share my knowledge and possibly reach a compromise with them, they tattled on me like a child and now turn their back in me when ever I see them. I guess the bottom line is duck is a four letter word.
