Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat - Part 2 : Chicken Boogaloo.

My friend's father in law won't eat the eggs I send home with him. He says the green ones look rotten. My friend's wife won't eat them either. Not sure if it was the fact that worms and bugs are in my eggs because they eat them or the "football" (egg completely smeared in mud and poo found in the coop floor) she saw once when I was collecting. He doesn't mind, they've become his breakfast staple. I took a pic of my rotten eggs the other day. Disgusting, right?
Lol! :-D My dad raised chickens most his life, we always had fresh eggs and never bought chicken from the store growing up. He hasn't had chickens for some yrs now. I showed him a carton of a dozen olive eggs I had, "they look rotten" he said, and looked grossed out... :-D We didn't know much about other breeds of chickens yrs ago, he always had RIRs. A weasel took out a lot of his flock and he stopped by a farm that had tons of chickens and asked for a rooster, preferably RIR. Sold him a bird that was mixed, looked RIR. Threw chicks with five toes, dad thought it was cool. I had just moved out, he stopped by and gave me a bunch of chicken breasts, said the rest of the birds looked disgusting, weird black. I ate the breasts, had some weird marbling of black in them. I bet that rooster he picked up had some silkie crossed in it somewhere. .. Lol! :-D

I'm glad he had a bit of a change in mind! I would love to have a rooster that surprised me with chicks like that.

Its been a while since I have loged on to BYC, and this is one of the first forms I came to! Now, I come back to the online chicken world with a story about my brother. My brother came home about a year ago, and this 25 year old man has been scared of birds ever since he was attacked by a Parakeet when he was little. He won't come near any of my chickens, even when I held one if my gentlest hens or a tiny chick. Thats ok I can deal with that but, he won't eat the eggs ether! The only time he has eaten eggs are when some got bought :barnie What he doesn't know is that homemade pasta and that cake he ate..... had some of my birds eggs in it!:cd

The real question is just how many more meals you can feed him that include your girls eggs in them before he realizes this.

I don't think that's an uncommon fear. When my cousin was a baby, her parents were pushing her down the sidewalk in a stroller. As they went past a pine tree, a couple of birds flew out of the tree right by her face. She's been scared of anything with a beak since and she's in her 30's.

It's like how people get really afraid of my Irish Wolfhound mix.

Everyone that doesn't know him is afraid of my jersey giant rooster. He's the calmest bird I've ever owned and that's including hens. :-D
