I've had people ask if my green and blue eggs are because the chickens are sick, they're too old, they're too young, or if that means the eggs have bacteria in them.

lol, i doubt it... it's the last holiday weekend before school starts... all the knuckleheads are off at the beach, getting sunburned and saying dumb things to the waterfront property owners...

I myself never knew chickens -could- lay any other colors besides white and brown, WHY would that upset you? It's not like even if you live on a small farm you would ever see that unless you have that type of chicken.
I just explain how and why that happens, (color of the soils in the areas of the world where the chickens have been specifically breed and allowed to populate feral flocks- seems to work best... slate colored rocks and hilly areas, mountains-blue, fallen leaves and dense vegetation-brown, white for rocky or light colored areas or snow area- the approx South American, Mediterranean, and Asiatic breeds egg color if you go far enough back)
"Are they green inside, too?" <eyeroll> I used the comparison of red skinned apples vs green or yellow. Same thing inside.
"The inside of the shell, yes, it's the same color, unless it's a brown egg, that's hen spray paint to make the eggs hopefully blend into the nest better. The membrane of the egg, the egg itself are normal color no matte the shell color, just like people the insides are all the same-"
They meant the yolk.
Of course but the standard answer I supplied gives them the benefit of the doubt, having never seen a blue or green chicken egg and having seen the book 'green eggs and ham' green yolks and all...
