Dumbest Things People Have Said About Your Chickens/Eggs/Meat

Ya know,

This could turn into an intirely new thread (properly removed from this one). I bet we could all write books on the stupidity of humanity and their crazy offspring who are barely old enough to breed, but are breeding anyway. Idiots breeding idiots. Just like that old LP, Sly & the Family Stone, "Babies Making Babies"...1978.

Yeah, I'm old school with a few thousand LP's still up in the camp ( alot of Classical, too), and more record players than I can handle. I like the digital technology out there, but it's so relaxing to throw on a stack of LP's, whether it be R&B, Strauss waltzes, Country, Gospel/Jazz/Blues, what have you, curl up on the couch with a good book, and listen for hours. The only thing missing would be able to see my future coop and girls out through my back patio doors.

We could probably come up with a multi-volume set that would make Brittanica step back. I pray for this current, confused gene pool (I partially blame the parents 'cause some of these brats learn their behavior/attitude/self-serving/disrespectful attitudes from them) and our future. --BB

I have one about goats too........
I used to show pygmy doe, Mitsy. Well, I was always the only one at the fair with goats. I would usually bring my wether , Max to keep her company. Both of them have glorious beards, but Max is naturally hornless and Mitsy has big horns. People CONSTANTLY told me I was very confused and had bucks. I asked them how they know that. " Duh, because bucks have horns and beards and girls (ummm, do ya know the proper term?)make milk.". First off, any goat can have a beard and horns, and ssecondly does don't just start randomly needing milked, they have to be bred first. Ya know how you tell their gender? Look at their back ends. That was when the lightbulb goes off over their head.
Oh, here's a pic of Mitsy's glorious beard:

:D
Okay this doesn't sound so stupid to me. Before I visited with a goat breeder, I did not know that both genders grew horns.

I get a kick out of this thread, BUT...

some of the stuff we're ridiculing isn't stupidity, but ignorance. You can fix ignorance, you can't fix stupid. A lot of us are working from a rural or semi-rural background. Not everyone has that advantage in life, and if supermarket eggs are all you've ever known, it might be hard to make that connection to something farm fresh.

As for publishing it all, Bobby, let he who is without sin first put pen to paper. Oh, and just so you know, anyone who truly loves vinyl would never "stack" records...so...there you go.

I knew that cattle could have horns on both cows and bulls, but didn't really put it together for goats, either. Worse than that, I wouldn't have thought of a female goat with a beard.

I agree. It is much more ignorance than it is stupidity.

I think they should teach these things in school.

I didn't want to admit to the latter. I did too

I've never really thought about the horns between cows and bulls really.. My grandfather had milking cows (Holstein) and beef cows (breed - really not sure). Oh and they have genitals that are pretty evident right away :p

Well, it just isn't natural, 7 Biddies!

This isn't the one who said, "I don't trust anything natural". She won't even get near farm fresh eggs. But, oldrooster and aoxa are right about this person asking vs proclaiming. At least she *wants* to learn and doesn't assume she knows everything.

Still gave me a chuckle, though. I mean, why else would I give her the eggs?

I was just recently asked if my eggs would last as long as the store bought eggs.

Not in my house. ;)
